Carrier Oils
General Information:
“Carrier Oil” is a general term widely used in aromatherapy and cosmetics. They are base oils used to dilute essential oils prior to topical application, since essential oils are often too potent to apply directly onto skin.
Not all Carrier Oils are pressed from vegetables. Many are extracted from seeds, nuts and kernels.
Carrier Oils are sometimes called “fixed oils,” since they do not evaporate instantly and remain “fixed” on the skin's surface.
A Carrier Oil can affect the benefits, effectivity and usefulness of essential oils, including its resulting color, aroma, therapeutic properties, and shelf life of the blended product.
Each Carrier Oil has different components, resulting to its own distinct color, viscosity, penetration speed, and therapeutic properties.
